Lewis Landscapes was started by Andrew Lewis on Salt Spring Island in 1991 after emigrating from the UK. Having lived and worked on the island for 26 years he is well established as a highly reputable landscape professional with a strong interest in all kinds of sustainable gardening.
Andrew graduated in the UK, with a degree in Biological Sciences, specialising in Marine Biology. He worked in Australia on a botanical restoration project on Lizard Island, off the Great Barrier Reef. At the same time, he helped with a marine research project, and became a proficient deep sea diver. He returned to England and for a short time ran a small garden design and build company before moving permanently to Canada. He gained a Diploma in Landscape Restoration from the University of Victoria,B.C. with core modules on environmental re-generation and management. He is also a qualified irrigation specialist. His professional training, together with years of practical experience working in the forest and on the land, enables Lewis Landscapes to offer a unique service to clients on Salt Spring Island.
