Landscaping for a Tennis Court with stone retaining walls, patios and seeded lawns
The project involved full landscaping, including a tennis court, drive, patios, planting, lawns and stonework. The site was a slope that extended to the water's edge. To get a level area for the tennis court required a deep into the slope and removal of the material to another site. A 20 foot high retaining wall was built to suppport the bank.
Local stone was chosen for the retaining wall in preference to concrete blocks as more fitting for the setting. Each stone was selected and individually placed to create a wall that is aesthetically pleasing and merges into the contours of the hill. The court itself was laid by a specialist sub-contractors. When it was finished, large sweeps were graded and seeded. Around the house, very simple, uncluttered patios were made with large paving slabs. Beds planted with bulbs and low shrubs created a narrow transition between paving and the rocky shoreline.
