Landscaped Sauna Hut Complete with Stove in a Forest Setting With Access Pathway, Steps and Planting

A Cedar Sauna in an elevated forest setting is the main feature of this project. It involved preparation of the site with a concrete foundation and creating a pathway with steps for access. The sauna is carefully constructed with close fitting timbers with two levels of slatted bunks and a viewing window.

Saunas are esteemed for their health benefits as a result of raising body temperature. This website is not about promoting products of any kind, except to say Harvia equates with the best known Finnish sauna heaters on the market.

A crushed stone pathway zig-zags to steps with simple timber risers leading up to a covered veranda. Planting along the pathways will grow and help to conceal the sauna creating a private space for relaxation hidden away from the main dwelling.

We welcomed the opportunity to build a sauna hut. Outdoor buildings come in all shapes and sizes. The request is mostly for logstores, aince the average home on Salt Spring Island has a log burner and needs a dry store for wood. They can be attractive outbuildings incorporating a toolstore or workshop. We have yet to be asked to build a tiny-house, which is very similar to to a sauna hut. The construction is largely the same with window, door and log burner. In case you might be thinking of a tiny-house, we have one at home, just as food for thought.
